Ummmm.. what if I bought a iPhone 4 at launch. Recently broke it... and now want the white one?

Your out of luck. Under no circumstances will Apple EVER replace a product with another one that is not exactly the same! Period!

What i'm wondering about is when we will get an announcement about it.
If the launch is Wednesday they are leaving it incredibly late!

What are we supposed to do. Base it all on rumor and show up outside stores on Wednesday if we want one? Give me a break!

Macs are designed to have Dual Processors, and OS X is designed to take advantage of that. Panther will definitely take advantage of the second processor, as will various applications.

    Hi,

    After a long time..

Is there any API Support for the air share concept implementation in the iOS SDK.

Please let us know if any had implemented.

Though Air Share (http://itunes.apple.com/in/app/air-sharing/id289943355?mt=8) itunes app is using WebDAV protocol, not much idea of implementation was found me.

    Please share any snippets...

    Thanks in advance

In the UK, under its purely municipal law, there is a presumption that retail price management agreements are against the public interest, and therefore unenforceable. The law does, however, provide for the presumption to be overcome by evidence to the contrary, and in the case of publishers and booksellers, vertical retail price management has been held enforceable. The UK is, of course, a member of the European Union which takes a stronger stand against retail price management, and pursuant to the articles of the European Commission, it is their standards that apply to covered cross-border transactions.

In the U.S., there have been swings back and forth through much of the 20th century, but current Federal law (since 2007) applies the "Rule of Reason" to retail price management arrangements, and a retail pricing scheme will be enforced if it is not anti-competitive. The Supreme Court recognized that competition often is enhanced by matters other than price (after-sale support, strong warranty, etc.), and it may well be reasonable to require a minimum price to support an overall more competitive position.

Those who find the public policy aspects of this question interesting may wish to read the now definitive opinion of the U.S. Supreme Court, http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/06pdf/06-480.pdf

Because I was aiming that at people who were throwing a hissy fit and going to Verizon. So your point had nothing to do with mine!! I wasn't addressing everyone upset with the price increase. ANd yes, I do think going to some one who will end up being worse than the company you are pissed at in the regards of what you are pissed at as throwing a hissy fit! It would be one thing if you were changing and Verizon cost more but you were pissed at AT&T cause you hated their customer service. But being pissed cause they made a deal they had less of a deal and going to a place that doesn't even offer that deal in the first place? I call that throwing a hissy fit and making no sense.

Yes, it had a lot to do with them. Many who are leaving have a legitimate gripe with AT&T and if they want to take their business elsewhere b/c a purely financial decision by AT&T, so be it. Even if the finances may not add up at first. Taking your business elsewhere IS what many want to do.

As I said above, if AT&T cancelled my unlimited and I was left with 2 similar choices (between AT&T & Verizon) BUT would need to spend extra with Verizon due to swithcing...I would do it in a heartbeat even with it not making much financial sense at the time.

So yes, that was directly at what you were saying.

Oh, cost of running business? Cost of upkeep of equipment, cost of upkeep of building and building rent. Cost of wages because as prices go up everywhere cost of living goes up therefore you end up giving people a pay reduction if you don't reflect cost of living increases in wage increases? Not everything is tied down to just the prices of the phones (after all, it's not just the iphone that is increasing in price). And their cost of running a business will reflect in their prices. They aren't a charity and if their costs increase, they will reflect that in prices to the extent that they can do it without losing too much revenue (they do keep in mind what will keep them the most profit and that does include losing business).
Ah ok, so you have nothing. Just the same old line used by AT&T whenever they raise the price

    Gotcha

The fact that you wrote the "Everyone wants money" line shows me how far over your head my point went.

I'd love to see Apple displace Google Maps on their iOS devices. That would be a major blow to Google and a major win for Apple and their iAd product. The more you tie maps into adverts the more personalized those adverts become. The more successful marketing campaigns. Apple can take iAds to the next level.

It would hardly affect Google that much since Apple (who writes the Maps application on iOS currently even though it uses Google services) doesn't really use any of the Maps services that Google uses to generate revenue. If Apple included Google Places, I would understand your argument. As it is, Apple provides such a basic set of maps features that Google really will not lose anything if Apple switches providers (or becomes the provider).

Any chance for adding this. I'm guessing it hasnt been added due to some interference with advertising, bbut it allows sharing images etc from a mobile device and frankly is a better experience browsing on iOS than mobile safari and the similar.

    A response would be appreciated.

My last exposure to Notes was 12 yrs ago. We hated it. After 5 yrs, my then company decided to move to Exchange to much hype that it would be a lot better.

It wasn't. I still miss the days of Notes. I've since moved on to two different companies, each of whom have used Exchange. Not once has the Exchange implementation been any better than I remember Notes being more than 7 years previous.

But I will face facts. Notes lost the battle - it is a dead platform for all intents and purposes. As went 1-2-3, so went Notes. It's a shame really because Exchange/Outlook is so terrible, that you'd think anyone with a modicrum of experience could trump it without even trying really hard.

I mean, really, do you need 80% of one of my CPU cores to look up a name in an address book? And how large does the memory footprint of an e-mail app need to be? I often have to shut down Outlook just so compiles will complete in less time. But that will never get better now, because there is no one to push them.

Well said. Maybe its time freeware communities such as OpenOffice make a HUGE push of functionality, portability, efficiency, and ability to work with Active Directory & Such to challenge MS.

Lotus Notes, a high-visibility enterprise class communications suite by IBM, will receive improved Macintosh support (http://www.crn.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=193100334) according to Mike Rhodin, general manager of IBM's Lotus group speaking to CRN.

"We have millions of Notes seats on the Mac now, and some very large customers are active in the beta and are very vocal about that," Rhodin said in an interview with CRN. "The Mac is a resurgent platform."

In addition, the next release will receive iNotes compatibility for Macs. Sametime 7.5 (http://www.crn.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=193000335), IBM's enterprise instant messaging solution (including VoIP support) also includes Macintosh client support.

Many in the Mac community have been wondering whether Apple's Intel switch would bring forth increased interest from enterprise customers. Rhodin's comments can't be taken to represent the entire enterprise Mac market of course, but they can represent an interesting insight into how well the Mac version of a product that is used by government and many large corporations is doing.

If the user (who knows nothing of design, fonts, color, etc.) has control over the presentation of a company's image then there is absolutely no point in having a designer. Might as well have the intern throw something up there. Think before you write.

That's good advice; why don't you take it? I've done quite a bit of professional design...print and web...and the user doesn't have "control over the presentation of a company's image" on a web site; the user has control (or should have control) over aspects of how that image is presented. That's why you have the ability to override text sizes and style sheets. As I said, the web is not print and should not be treated as such. If you have anything to do with web design and you don't understand that, I'd suggest getting out of the business before you inflict any more harm.

a shame most of the screen is taken up by the controls. They could've done a better job minimizing those in the UI to provide more screen for the game content.

I'm getting more and more curious how iOS 5 will turn out. I dunno if these enhancements will make it in time for summer, but I'm imagining centralized voice control for doing everyday tasks, a la Siri.

"Is it going to rain tonight?"
"How is traffic? Find another route"
"Book me a table for 2 at 7 tonight"
    "What movies are showing tonight?"

These sorts of things should be accessible, and actionable, from the Voice Control interface. Apple did just add 20 new spoken languages to OS X  Perhaps it will be accessible as an API to third party developers. This would really change the way I use my phone, especially while on the road.

Why announce the support of one standard now when there is another competing standard?

I've been a very satisfied customer of .Mac since its inception. I receive zero spam e-mails and I am delighted with the ability to create aliases. On top of that there is no advertising at all. I also have a couple of other web-mail accounts and they get zillions of spam messages even with their respective anti-spam filters turned on. I think that this update adds a little bit more polish on an already decent offering. I do agree with a previous poster that the iCal integration needs some work.

Many of you are just hateful.

People make mistakes all the time. Its very easy to misread, and the bulk of the listing is set up to make you think you are getting an iPhone.

There is only one purpose to this auction....to defraud. I am 100% confident that the buyer will not have to complete the purchase. 100%!

Now, as to action against the seller....in my experience with eBay...none will be taken.

Paypal, well they might have a say if the buyer actually pays...otherwise they are not involved.

The purpose of this thread is to alert others.

I think .Mac is great, and this sneak peek gets me a somewhat excited. Having said that, I thing the .Mac service needs a LOT of work. I mean let's really look at what it offers: a cool email ADDRESS "somebody@mac.com", full usage of the Backup app., secure iChats, groups, and iWeb publishing, and this for $99 a year. WOW!

Ok, listen! .Mac gets me about as hot and bothered as an egg salad sangwich, I got suckered into it about 2 years ago when Apple was offering subscriptions for a discounted price on the day after Thanksgiving. I remain subscribed and probably will as long as the service is offered but it is practically featureless in it's current form. You know what I really want to see first off .Mac apps like a .Mac iCal or maybe a .Mac TextEdit, how about new Fonts available only to .Mac members, and .Mac Widgets (like once promised). And then the price, the price needs to come down a bit maybe $59 a year.
